The Barbican’s Watch me Move exhibition has teamed up with Create to show some of the films from the show. This is happening at, of all places, Hackney Wick; and better than that, it is all happening under the A12 flyover, as it crosses the River Lea.
Called Folly for a Flyover, it consists of a cinema screen set up directly under the flyover, and an amazing wooden folly built between the two lanes, serving food and drinks. The programme is over six weeks, and is brilliant.
The gap between the flyover creates amazing, atmospheric lighting; the flyover itself was essential on the opening night though, as it made the difference between watching a film in the dry and in the very very wet…
It’s worth a visit, if just for a coffee and piece of cake.
